50k Progress

After a horrible weekend and start to this week, the family is on the mend. We are all feeling better. Thank goodness!

So, my update on my current 50k book. I've finally thought of a title for it. I decided on INBETWEEN. I like it. It fits. It's sitting at 5,250 words right now. Not a lot, but I am making progress. I didn't get a whole lot of writing done this weekend. Obviously from the sick kids and myself. Hopefully I can get more writing in this coming weekend. We are camping with my hubby's fam. In cabins. My kind of camping. ;)

So, how are you guys doing? How are your WIP's coming? Querying? Revising? Just starting to write? And if you don't mind, I'd like to know what your WIP's are about! Just a line or two. It will give you good practice on coming up with a pitch for your book! ;)

50k Progress

I guess since I've finished my first draft of BOUND, I need to start a new 50k. So, I'm starting one. I want my new first draft done by October. I'd shoot for September, but I'm going to start editing/revising BOUND, so that won't happen.

So, my new WIP. It's not SWITCHED anymore. You know how I am about having way too many ideas.

Uh ... ya.

BUT, I've been outlining this WIP and actually know where I'm going with it, so I'm writing this one. Did you hear that right? Me? Outlining? I know. Huge eye roll. He he. Oh, and it doesn't have a title yet. Which drives me absolutely crazy. I'm also at 2500 words. Do you ever freak out knowing you only have 2500 words on your WIP? I do. Even though I just barely started it still makes me feel all twitchy.  Which is totally irrational. I mean, I just started!

Still. Seeing that small number compared to my 60k books, makes writing this book seem a little daunting. :P I'll get there though. It's only been a few days. If I could just stop freaking out about it I'd be fine.

50k Progress

So ... remember when I said I wanted to finish the first draft of BOUND by August?

Well ... I'M DONE!!! :D :D :D

I was a little under 50k, but I always write less and add about 10000 words during revisions. Is that weird? Anyway. I'm SO relieved to have the first draft done. This was honestly the hardest book to write. I'm putting it away for a few weeks to take a break from it and then I'll dive into revisions in August.

In other news, I started my new book last night. It's called SWITCHED. I wrote about 2000 words last night and I'm loving it. It's so nice to work on something that doesn't make my brain hurt as much! lol

50k Progress

I am happy to tell you I'm at 40k! Woot! Party! Wait...not yet. I have to at least get to 50k to have a party. And there WILL be a party!

You guys, I'm so happy I'm almost finished with the first draft of Bound. I'm going to put it away for at least a month before I start revising. Bound has so much world building and characters that it has been really difficult to write. There is more tension and more complicated relationships. To sum it all up, it's pretty sad at times. And I'm not really a sad kind of girl. Don't get me wrong, I love it, it has just been the hardest book for me to write for some reason. I absolutely LOVE my MC's love interest though. Love him. He's my favorite I've written so far. I hope I get to share him with all of you someday.

In the meantime, I've been plotting my new book that I'm so excited to write. It's called Switched. A YA contemporary fantasy. I love it. It's a fun side project for me to focus on. I have a feeling I won't be as stressed out while writing it. I'm excited to dive in.

50k Progress

 

I'm actually doing pretty good with my 50k. Granted my first draft is everywhere, but that's okay. Revisions are the greatest. I'm at 34k on BOUND, which is great. I need to get more words out at night, but I've been so busy lately. Hopefully my life settles down soon. :) Since I post every other day, Wednesday posts are going to be short. Just a quick update on my writing goals and I want to hear yours in the comments!

Is this thing on?

So, I had a post that I already posted, but realized I didn't want to post it yet, since the post was rather posty. Er...I mean, dumb. Ha.
I was actually going to do an update on my 50k goal. I am at 27k on BOUND. Holla!! Seriously. This is fantastical news.This wasn't the book I was going to work on, but I had some amazing new ideas strike me and it's taking off faster than I ever thought possible. Now, it's still a first draft, so it sucks rocks, but I'm loving it so far. Can't wait to finish and start revising! WOOT! I'm not revising or editing until I'm done. Completely done. This is a huge challenge for me, so wish me luck.

Running a 5K

I've never been a runner. I hated it in high school. I actually never really got into it until I had my third child.
Last year I trained to run a 5K in September. I did pretty good! I felt great, I lost a lot of weight and was in pretty good shape.
Then winter came.
I stopped running. I didn't exercise for months. I gained my weight back. And honestly, I'm not happy with how I look right now.
So, I'm starting over. I'm going to start going to the gym every week and work those inches back off.
What does this have to do with writing, you ask?
Well, I had an idea. I'm slowly working on Bound, and I'm not really feeling it right now. Again. I told you I had a love/hate relationship with this book. It's giving me major problems and sometimes I just don't want to think about it anymore so I stop writing. Sometimes for weeks.
Anyway, I'm going to put it aside for a while. I have a new, shiny idea that keeps calling my name. The character won't leave me alone, and this new idea really has me excited to write again.
So, I'm going to participate in a 50K. Yep. A 50K. I'm going write 50K before August 31. My novels are usually about 60K, but that is after editing and revising.
Now some of you I'm sure that isn't too hard. But it is for me. I don't participate in NaNoWriMo for a reason.
Anyhoo, this new book is a YA paranormal. I'm not going to say anything about it, since it's sort of top secret, but I will say that I'm very excited to research and write it. ;)
So, anyone else want to join me? I probably can't do prizes or anything, but you'll have a brand new book you'll finish, so that is a prize all it's own! I know most of you probably have books you are editing, so if you don't have time, it's fine! But if you're having a hard time with your WIP or you have a new idea you want to do, let me know!
