What I'm Reading!

I've been doing a ton of reading this summer which has been wonderful and relaxing. I had a reading slump a while back and since then, I've vowed to read more. Here are some awesome recs I'd love to share with you!

My favorite read of the year so far?

Circus Mirandus. I absolutely loved this book. It was sad, sweet, magical and hopeful. If you're looking for a good MG book, check this one out. You won't be disappointed.

Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy was such a sweet read too. Magical and fun about a girl who thinks she's rather ordinary, but finds out she's not even close. A retelling of the Snow Queen. A fun MG that anyone will enjoy.

Now, on the YA side of things, Stolen Songbird has been my favorite read this year so far. Such a good book full of romance, magic and trolls!

What I've Been Reading: Middle Grade!

Sitting here with a massive cold/cough today and wasn't sure what to do with myself. So, I thought a blog post was in order.

I've been reading so many books lately and I've been loving it! I'm a HUGE Middle Grade fan and here are some awesome ones I've finished in the past few weeks.

Castle Hangnail by Ursula Vernon

This book was so much fun! I loved the main character, Molly. She was adorable and loved being "bad". I hope there's a sequel. I really enjoyed the writing, the characters and the story. So fun.

Doll Bones by Holly Black

I'm probably the last person in the writing world to read this. I heard so much hype that I bought it at the Scholastic book fair at my kids school. It didn't disappoint! I thought it was fantastic and creepy. Loved the main characters, and the mystery was spooky and well done. Great read!

Time of the Fireflies by Kimberley Griffiths Little

This book was totally not what I was expecting. SUPER creepy mystery, SUPER creepy doll. Yes, another doll! But it was wonderfully written and the protagonist was awesome. I love Kimberley's books. But seriously. This one was creepier than most... :)

What have you been reading? Any good recs for the summer?

Authors United Against Child Slavery

I'm participating in this wonderful cause. Please take a second to read through this. It's an amazing thing these people are doing, getting children out of dangerous and life destroying situations. Let's help out and donate. Any little bit will help. And if you donate $20.00, you'll get a free book from a participating author. SUCH a great thing. Spread the word!

Where authors unite to raise funds for Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.), a nonprofit that organizes undercover operations to free many of the 2 million children being trafficked as sex slaves around the world.

  • Donate $20 to receive a free book from a participating author (book prizes selected at random).
