Random Thoughts From This Week

1. Kit Kat's do not help diets.

2. Reading all these pirate books has basically turned me into a pirate lately. Have you seen the pirate feature on facebook that turns your profile and everything into pirate speak? Hilarious. I think my kids are getting sick of me saying Arg and calling them matey's...

3. Any good book recommendations? I really need one right now. :P

4. Can you believe it's freaking November? Where the heck did 2011 go? Seriously!

5. I'm getting excited for Thanksgiving. I love me some turkey. And potatoes and gravy. And the rolls. I get sort of sad when Thanksgiving goes into the shadows of Christmas. It's kind of forgotten a little. I'm a scrooge when it comes to listening to Christmas music. I don't until the day after Thanksgiving. I don't like that holiday getting overlooked. Call me weird. I don't care. :)

Have a great weekend! :D :D

Good book... hmmm... Well, my favorite series on the planet is the Gemma Doyle books by Libba Bray. If you've already read those, I also adored The Singer of All Songs by Kate Constable. Also a trilogy :)

Have a great week! Argh ;)

What? Kit Kats aren't diet food...now this extra weight makes sense.

Best books I've read lately:
Far From You by Lisa Schroeder
Gravity vs. the Girl by Riley Noehren
Both are AMAZING!

How did NaNo go for you this week?

Angie: NaNo was going great! But I got some comments back from betas on Inbetween. I have quite a bit of work to do on it and am REALLY excited about it. So ... I think I just lost NaNo. Oh well. I'm going to revise like crazy this month and hopefully be done before December!!

1. No, they definitely don't. But they're oh-so-yummy.

2. I loved that feature of facebook. I'd change to pirate English every so often just for kicks and giggles. (And talk like a pirate day.)

3. Um. Witch Song by Amber Argyle. Monarch by Michelle Davidson Argyle. Hereafter by Tara Hudson. Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini. Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George. A Kiss in Time by Alex Flinn.

4. Ugh. Except November is almost December which is my birthday and lots of family time.

5. I hear you on the music thing. Seriously. And I started a seasonal job at Target. Day of Halloween they were putting out their Christmas stuff.

Oh, and Shifting by Bethany Wiggins.

I'm kindof a scrooge about keeping the holidays separate too. It drives me a little crazy that the stores seem to celebrate HalloThanksMas or something.

MMM kit kats....halloween candy is half off at wal-mart...

So for books, you should read Janitors. or The True Confession of Charlote Doyle, or Harry Potter, I plan on re-reading the hunger game series befor the movie comes out.

You too, should have a great weekend!

I was just saying how fast the year is moving along. I love Turkey Day too, for all the same reasons! Yum.

Have a great weekend!

Very interesting. And yes, you know I love all that Piratey goodness. It feels like 2011 is slipping away so fast. Crazy!

Also, mmmmmmmmmm - kit kats.

You should check out Susan Kaye Quinn's new book, Open Minds. :)

I have a ton of books on my TBR list, but nothing that really comes to mind right away.

Don't feel bad about NaNO, lots of people are revising this month!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I hate that it gets overlooked too.

As to recommendations what are you looking for? Have you read The Family Nobody wanted by Helen Doss? One of the best books ever. Or A Lantern in her hand by Bess Streeter Aldrich. Lovely book about motherhood and sacrifice. I cry every time. Jane Eyre and Anna Karenina are two of my favorites. Anything by Chekov of course. Have you read Alas Babylon by Frank Herbert? It's a little dated and the first fifty pages are slow but after that it's pretty amazing and made me look at emergency preparedness in a new way. Ohhh, Mrs Mike is always a fabulous read. One of my favorites is Pavilion of Women by Pearl S Buck. Nothing graphic in it but there is a lot of talk about the relationships between men and women if that bothers you. None of these are new releases and if that won't do you I've got some more ideas.

Your plate on Thanksgiving sounds much like mine. I pile it high with nothing but the stuff that's bad for me and then go for vegetables on the second pass. Who eats green beans first when there's gravy and mashed potatoes? Pl-ease.

Okay, now I have to rework my diet sheet and take Kit Kat off the good side. Wait, just realized the heading was Good to eat, not Good FOR you. Silly me.

Book recommendation. Open Minds by Susan Kaye Quinn. If you want something to re-read, any Jane Austen book is great for curling up and enjoying with a nice mug of cocoa or glass of wine.

I hate adding to your disappointment ....Twix bars don't help the diet either. Just thought you should know.

I agree with you when it comes to Christmas. I like to wait until December 1st to play the music and gear myself up to cart all the Christmas paraphernalia up from the basement. I do love the feel of the house though once it is all sorted. The house seems to be filled with a peacefulness and delightful expectancy.

Also not helpful to diet: peanut butter cups. With Thanksgiving coming, I should get rid of them or I'm going to explode sometime that night.

It might be worth it, though...

I vow not to disrespect Thanksgiving. It goes by way too fast not to appreciate it.

I loved Delirium and I've been reading a ton of Patricia McKillip lately (she's soooo poetic).

I can sympathize with the Kit Kat thing. I've eaten all the Milky Ways out of my kids Halloween pumpkins. Why in the world did we go to so many houses and get so much candy? I'm worried it will never be gone. Oh well.

Oh, Halloween candy is the devil! This is a hard time of year to try to diet.;)
