I write because...

I love it.

It's an escape into a different world with my some of my best friends.

It's one of the only ways I can express myself without feeling like a total moron.

I love spending time with my characters.

I love making up new worlds.

I want to share my stories with others.

It's a passion of mine I didn't know existed until I finished my first manuscript.

I would go crazy if I couldn't write.

It's a part of me.

I can't imagine my life without it. :)

Why do you write?

Because I have too many thoughts to keep in my head, and if I don't put them on paper I think I might explode.

Also, pretty much everything you mentioned too. :-)

For every single you listed, too.

To entertain! Hopefully both myself and the reader. :)

I write because, like you, it's an escape from the world.

All of the above is so true :)

I love this :) I write so I don't go insane. I can have some pretty heavy thoughts sometimes.

I also write for the exact same reasons you listed! :D

Because I love it, it entertains me, and it makes me feel creative. I may not be able to make crafty things, but I can write crafty things!

all of the same reasons :)

Everything that you said! I identify with it so much now that it's hard for me to remember what it was like before I started writing. What the heck did I do with my time?? :)

i agree with you on all counts!

Good reasons! I totally agree. I like to be creative. To invent people and worlds. Its awesome to look at something and think... I did that!

you summed it up beautifully

I like your reasons. I write because it's an escape from my hectic life. It's "me time."

Because life is just better with an edit button

I used to put off my writing because I *didn't have time* and I was miserable. It is my joy and my sanity.

Amen Sister! Couldn't have written it better myself :)

Love this! So, so true. :)

I think that all of us writers are just a little crazy. Maybe that has something to do with my answer...just a little loony...not playing with a full deck, and that's why I write!

I write because I fall in love with the stories in my head and it's a rush - and also because the stories won't shut up if I ignore them! ;)

It's the one thing in my life over which I have control and is just for me. Definitely keeps me sane!

I agree with all your reasons too, although I have more of a "love-hate" relationship with my characters. They're not always nice.
