Another interesting (or not) fact!

I'm very musical. A lot of people don't know this about me, but I can play a few things. And sing.

I've played the harp for 23 years. Yes, that huge instrument with all the strings. :) My hubby is my designated harp mover when I play different places. (He was dubbed that when we got married. My dad was ecstatic!) I play for weddings, receptions, parties, church. I've played at a few funerals, in a few nursing homes, school assemblies and I've even played in a hospital NICU. That was awesome. The babies were so calm. Not one of the monitors went off in the hour I played. When I stopped, the monitors started again. It was really amazing.

I played the flute in 7th grade. I can still play a solo I had to memorize for an assembly all those years ago.

I play the piano as well. Mostly stuff I like to make up, but if you put music in front of me I can sight read like a boss. I can't play hymns though. My short fingers don't stretch that far. :)

I love to sing. If anything is on the radio I always make up my own part to sing with it. Alto is my favorite part to sing. It's more challenging and fun for me to learn. I've been singing duets with my sister since we were 5 and 3. We've sang many places. Probably the same as where I've played my harp. (Minus the weddings and receptions.) Mostly church functions. :) My youngest sister sings with us now, so we are a trio. My mom plays the piano when we sing and we've had many memories of us sisters laughing our heads off trying to learn a song and my mom getting frustrated and threatening to walk out of the room. We'd always look over and see her shoulders shaking while she laughed quietly at the piano.

Good times.

What hidden talents do you have?

I love that story about the NICU! I have about a fraction of the musical talent you have, but I can say that my LONG fingers do okay on the hymns. I can sight read hymns okay, but usually I just improvise on the difficult chords and if everyone is singing loud enough I can get away with it. :)

Jessie: I don't know why I have such a problem with hymns. They're just too hard for me for some reason. I guess it's nice that I don't have to play the piano in church... ;)

I sing alto also, and I also make up my own parts to songs on the radio! people think I'm crazy, but I can totally harmonize .... usually!
Other hidden talents - my ward didn't know I could sing well, but they found out when I did a solo for a Christmas function and now they keep asking me to sing for things. so that cats out of the bag.
Also, I'm a lot smarter at computers than I pretend to be. and I have a eidetic memory so it's hard for someone to pull off telling me I said or did something that I know I didn't do. :)

I love to sing, too. It's not so much a hidden talent as an underused one these days. And I play the piano, but pretty much only so I can sing along. I wish I could play the guitar, but my fingers are too short.

My son spent 10 weeks in the NICU. I think it would have been more fun if there had been a harp player. :D

I love music too and find it's a good extension and stimulation for creativity. Fun to know this about you. Sounds like you have a lot of talent.

I took piano lessons for many years, but I never liked playing the piano; that's why I never became good at it. I wish I could have learned how to play the violin, though; even though I do like listening to pianists, I also like listening to violinists even more.

The NICU gig is absolutely awesome. That is SO cool that music is a family event. What a bonding experience. I'm impressed.

Hidden talents? None. I used to teach yoga so I can hold some fun poses. ; )

I play the clarinet ... or, I used to. :) It was a good enough basis to write my country music book since I do know a bit about music.

Oh, and I want to learn the guitar.
