I've been looking into different writer's groups to join. I have an awesome online crit group, and another that meets face to face, but how worth it is it to join some major ones with chapter meetings and such?
First up, there is The League of Utah Writers, which I'm actually in a critique group with a friend that attends those and she loves them. She's told me basically everything I need to know about it, and I think I'm going to join when my hubby is finished with school in December. Anyone else a part of this?
Also, is anyone a member of YALITCHAT.ORG? I'm not a member, but I do think it looks pretty cool. YA is all I write, so is it worth the money or not?
Oh, and is anyone going to be attending LDS Storymakers next year? I'm really excited I get to go. It will be my first conference, but I'm scared to death! I don't know anyone, since this writing business is sort of a solitary hobby, but maybe I can see a few of you guys there. Anyone else planning on going?
Sorry, I have a lot of random questions wandering around in my brain today. :)

You're lucky to live in Utah, it seems like you guys have all sorts of great YA writers there, and thus, lots of fun groups. I'm not going to Storymakers, but I'm trying to figure out how to go to LTUE. I went to LTUE last year and had a blast and it's FREE. Doesn't get better than that. And don't worry, lots of people go to Storymakers so you will be far from alone. :)
I used to go to the League of Utah writers chapter meetings all of the time. That's where I was able to meet a lot of my friends that I still have. I don't go very much anymore because of scheduling, but I'm still a member and I go to their conference.
I'll be at the LDStorymakers conference. It's a great conference and you'll love it!
There's also a free conference at BYU in February for fantasy and sci fi authors. I usually try to go to at least one of the days. http://ltue.org/LTUE_2011.html
I'm hoping to go to Storymakers this year. I haven't joined any big groups, but will be interested in people's answers.
I'm teaching three classes at Storymakers. I've been to a lot of writing conferences and it's definitely the best one. Go! Go go go!
I've always enjoyed Storymakers. I think it's worth your time!
