First Crusader Challenge

So, here is my first challenge for the awesome Crusade!
Rules: In 300 words or less, tell us:
· one secret
· one lie
· one interesting quirk
· one annoying habit
· one of your best character traits, and
· one of your favourite things in the whole world.

The post can be in any format, including poetry (for those poets among us), but must include the random words, “bloviate,” “fuliguline,” “rabbit,” and “blade”

Since this is all about getting to know each other, I'll just jot down a quick list in random order of my interesting facts about me. Can you pick out the lie? Bwah ha ha ha ha!

*I love watching nature shows. If there was a documentary on fuliguline, I'd totally watch it. If there were one about a little rabbit family? Same thing. I'm addicted to the Animal Planet. Don't judge me.

*Books are one of my most favourite things ever. I have an addiction to them. A book buying problem, actually. One day I'll have a whole room lined with bookshelves to hold all my favourite books!

*I'm a very happy person, and a great listener. I love cheering for other peoples successes and making new friends!

*I want eight kids. Don't tell my husband.

*I don't want to bloviate, but I have cuter socks than you! I get a whole drawer just for my socks. I don't own one pair of plain white ones.

*I'll just go ahead and say this one. Sadly, I use way too many commas. I, always, think, I, need, to, use, them. I swear my agent is going to take a blade to my manuscript and cut them all out. I, don't, see, why, it, would, be, necessary. Who, doesn't, like, a, few, extra, commas?

Can't wait to read everyone else's! :D

hi, nice crusade challenge answer!
your lie is the socks...

I'm going with the nature shows to be different. So awesome that you play the harp and have so many books going on! I wish you all the best of luck!

Zan Marie said...

Add me to the socks as the lie group. Nice to meet you. ; )

Who am I to judge you. I like Animal Planet, Discovery, Channel, TLC. Anywhere there are critters, I'm on the scene. :D Eight kids? I hope someone died and left you a fortune, and don't worry, the hubby won't hear about the kids from me.

Fun list- this is such a fun way to get to get to know everyone! I think your lie is that you do own one pair of white socks. If you have a drawer full... but if you have cute socks I will pit my cute socks up to yours any day! I have some rockin socks! LOL :)

Whoa, look at you, doing your Challenge already. You're speedy. ;o)

Great list! I'm going with the eight kids, too. If only because the thought terrifies me.

I'm guessing 8 kids. yikes! lol

I'm going with 8 kids, great list btw.

Alison Miller said...

I don't think I use enough commas! And eight kids?! Whoa!

We're in the same group! Nice to meet you!

I dropped in to say "You've been gifted with the Stylish Blogger Award." Drop by Saturday blog post (http://www.kristalleeromances.com/2011/02/stylish-blogger-award-thanks-heather.html) to pick it up.

As for the challenge lie, I'm going with no white socks. My list will post on Monday.

Have a great weekend!

Oh, fun! Totally with you on wanting a room for books... and I will guess the lie comes in the 'not a single pair of white socks' but since this is my first time here, that is totally a guess...

DL Hammons said...

8 kids! YIKES!! That's your own soccer team! :)

A fellow crusader says HI back. Great answers!

Angela Scott said...

I'd guess the 8 kids is a lie. That's my guess and I'm stickin' to it.

Golden Eagle said...

My guess is you don't actually like nature shows.

Getting around to all those who have done the challenge today. :)

Margo Berendsen said...

I have no idea which one is a lie! You did a great job! I guess I'll take a stab at this, but it's pretty random - it's either the commas or the nature shows! Good job.

Margo Berendsen said...

oh and I forgot, I'm a crusader too and a new follower now. Thanks for visiting me!

Tanya Reimer said...

Welcome to the crusade. I want 8 kids is the lie. Holy crap it better be. Do you know how many 8 is. 8 of anything is too much. Lol Can't wait to get to know you. I was right at home on your site!

Chantele Sedgwick said...

You guys are all great!! Thanks for visiting me, and I'm excited to post the real lie!! :)

Anonymous said...

I'm all for the 8 kids is a lie too, It certainly would be for me lol! Awesome answers, I didn't even notice it was up yet.

Christine said...

I'm gonna guess the 8 kids. Seriously. EIGHT? I’m a fellow crusader, BTW, and thought I’d stop by to say HEY! Great blog! I was already a fan and a follower.

Michelle Merrill said...

Okay, since I'm from a family of 10 kids, 8 isn't all that horrible, although it is a lot. I'm going to pick a totally different answer and say that you don't really have a book buying problem. :)

Yay for 100 followers!

Loved all your answers!

Theresa Milstein said...

I'm a fellow crusader, and, an, over, comma, user.

I believe the eight kids are a lie. We'll see...

Unknown said...

Great to meet you, fellow Crusader! I'm guessing that you don't really want eight kids -- that's more far-fetched-sounding to me than owning drawer-fuls of colorful socks.

Loved your comment on my blog! My mom named us all with "N" names, despite the fact that she comes from a family of "D's." My aunts are: Duane, Diane, Donna, Denise, Danielle and Dierdra. And like your family, there is one boy: Uncle Tom. Go figure!

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Savannah Chase said...

Wow 8 kids huh....Hmmm I don't think that is true...

L.A. Colvin said...

I'm going with the kids. hehehe

Michelle Merrill said...

Wait, sorry to enter the Nicole and Chantele conversation, but me and my 9 siblings are all M's! Crazy. I was hardly ever called by the right name! :)

Sari Webb said...

This is a tough one. It's a toss up between the eight kids and the socks. I'm going to go with the eight kids one.

I want a room full of books one day too!

Chantele Sedgwick said...

@Michelle MerrillMichelle, that is so funny! When my husband and I got married he told me we couldn't do the same thing my parents did and name all our kids with the same first letter. (I totally could have talked him into it.) We ended up with a C, a K, and a B! LOL

Chantele Sedgwick said...

@~Nicole Ducleroir~ That is a LOT of D names! That is so funny that the boy didn't get a D name. Just like my family. Ha ha! :D

Chantele Sedgwick said...

@Kristal Lee Thanks for the award Kristal Lee! :D

Carrie said...

I going with the eight kids!

Great blog and nice to meet you!

L. Diane Wolfe said...

Hey Chantele!! Nice to find your writing blog.

I think that wanting eight children is the lie. I have five and wish everyone else luck who have more than that or want more than that. I really enjoyed your story. Fellow crusader and follower. We are also in the same group. :)

Margo Kelly said...

Hi fellow crusader! I have no idea which one is a lie! :)

Julie Musil said...

I totally relate to the comma obsession!! I'm going to guess you don't want 8 kids, because I know it's not the one about books :D

Kerri Cuev said...

It has got to be the eight kids. Ok, I could be over reacting because mine tend to drive me nutty LOL!

Anonymous said...

Cute entry! I'm guessing you don't like nature documentaries? I like kids and socks and think you can never have too many of either, so they weren't my guesses. :)

Jordan McCollum said...

Ummmmm Animal Planet.

(Eight kids, girl? You'd better get working!)

I actually hadn't really noticed your comma overuse (but then, we've kind of gotten out of practice, haven't we?).

Tara said...

I must pull a thousand commas out of my rough drafts!

Nice to meet you :)

Michelle Merrill said...

Hey, I just gave you an award on my blog too :) You rock. Come on over and get it :)

Crystal Collier said...

Nothing wrong with having eight kids. My parents did it, and we all turned out pretty awesome. *gleefully pointing at self* But there's not way in heck I'd do it.

Patricia A. Timms-McGehee said...

Knowing from your profile that you're from Utah (as am I, or at leas that's where I grew up) I'm having a hard time picking 8 kids as your lie, but I hope that's it. My fail safe is not owning a pair of white socks.

I'm in group 10 with you! Happy Crusading!

Amanda Milner said...

Hmm, I want to say 8 kids is the lie because 0.o but I think I will go with not having one plain white sock.

Lisa Potts said...

Oh, wow. Eight kids? I gotta go with that.

Anonymous said...

Hahaha! Yeah, I gotta go with the 8 kids one. Nice job!

Unknown said...

I bet you have ONE pair of plain white socks!

Hello fellow crusader!

kar_took said...

It has to be not having white socks, you must have a least one pair.

Brooke R. Busse said...

Nature shows. I think you used it for the ability to use two of the words with ease. Don't spoil it for me. XD

I have a serious book buying problem. I'm four away from 500, 156 of those unread.
