If you haven't heard about Elana Johnson's POSSESSION yet, you must check it out. This book has been getting so much buzz and today is it's release date! Woot! I'm so excited to read it. I've heard great things about it.
To celebrate the release of POSSESSION, there is a fun blog hop going around with people sharing stories about when they broke the rules.
Now, I could write about the time my friends and I went toilet papering (yes, I realize this is old school) and got pulled over with me and three other people hiding under blankets in the back of a truck. Luckily the police officer didn't see us, or just pretended we weren't there.
Or the time when my friends and I got into a guy's car with a bunch of his friends and went fourwheeling in the mountains. At night. There could have been death. We were stupid.
But, I'm going to write about the time I broke my OWN rules.
I had a few boyfriends in high school, but nothing really serious. When I was in college, I swore to myself I'd date someone for at least six months to a year before I got engaged. I really needed to get to know that person. Make sure he wasn't someone different as the months went by. So, in October of 2002 I met a really nice guy at a party. Actually, he was on his parents roof, nailing shingles on. My friend was getting a cd from him, so he got off the roof and introduced himself. I didn't think anything of it and we started hanging out with his group of friends.
Then out of the blue, he asked me on a date. We went to dinner, ice skating and watched a movie at his friend's house after. He held my hand. (If you knew me at all in my younger years I would never do such a thing on the first date! Ha ha)
One thing led to another and we were engaged three weeks later. Yep. Three weeks. When you know it's right, just do it I guess! ;)
So that is the time I broke my own rules and married the man of my dreams. I'm so glad I did. :)
Go here to see all the other entries in the blog hop and don't forget to congratulate Elana, and check out her awesome book as well! :D

Awe, cute story. Sometimes rules are meant to be broken, eh? ;)

I was a toilet-papering delinquent too!
Wow, three weeks. That's awesome. when you know, you know. Sorry I missed this blog hop, looks like fun.
Oh, I loved reading that! Especially the part with him on the roof putting shingles on and you thinking nothing of it! Hello! Handy man with the hammer. It was meant to be. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to think about which rules I've bent...or broken :)
I'm so glad your broken rule ended in happily ever after :) What a fun blog hop!
Awwe, so sweet! :D
I don't think I want to admit to any rule breaking - but that probably leads you to believe I did something TERRIBLE!
I'm excited to read Elana's book. :)

Seems like an okay time to break the rules :)
