When did you first know you wanted to be a writer?
Hm, that’s a tough one. I always loved writing and making up stories. Ever since I was seventeen I imagined what it might be like to be a (drumroll) Published Writer.
Love the drumroll. ;)
Do you have a writing schedule, or do you just sit down whenever you get a spare moment?
I try to stick to a schedule of late afternoon to evening is writing time, but I’m not too rigid about it. Some days it has to be later, some days it has to be when I can. But if I start slacking, then I really enforce it.
We gotta write when we can, you know? Every day is different for me. I swear.
Could you tell us a little about yourself? Random facts? Hidden talents?
Well, I’m shy, so talking about myself makes me blush. Does that count? But seriously, one random fact/hidden talent is that I’m super good at organizing things, whether it’s a list of things to do or a messy room. All those years of Tetris really paid off ;).
Oh, I hear ya on the shyness. Working on it. :P And you can come organize my house! You know... If you want...
If you were stranded on a desert island, what is one thing you couldn't live without? (Besides your family and a laptop of course.)
Books. If I had a nice library, I’d be fine : )
Woot! Great answer!
What is one book you could read over and over and over?
Pretty much any book. If I buy it, I’m going to read it over and over again.
Sounds like me. Awesome. :)
What book are you dying to read this year?
Book, singular? Well…my most recent “I can’t wait until I finally buy it!” is POSSESSION by Elana Johnson. It’s one of those ones that I can never find in the bookstore.
I love that cover. And I really need to read it. It's sitting on my bookshelf just staring at me.
What genre do you write and why?
YA Dystopian. Honestly, I’m not sure there’s an explanation for it. It’s just how most of my ideas come out. I do get other ideas, but I’m always most excited about these ones.
Yay for Dystopian! I love me some Dystopian.
Do you have any writing rituals? Music, silence, eating, etc.
Definitely music. The angrier and more depressing, the better. It really helps me write.
Isn't it funny how angry music helps get those creative juices flowing? Love it.
Where do you come up with your ideas? Dreams, while driving, etc?
Dreams are a big one, as is that moment just after I wake up and I’m turning the dream over in my head. My brain is so loose that I can take a smidgen of a dream and grow it to something huge.
Another dreamer. *sigh* So jealous you remember your dreams.
Any advice for other aspiring authors?
There are going to be times when you are rejected or you can’t make the story work or you feel like a total failure. You’ll want to give it all up. Remember that your judgment at this time? It’s not so good.
GREAT advice. And it's so true!
Random Writing Question: There is a sale on weapons at a store down the street. What would your MC buy to take down his/her villain?
If she’s really looking to take them on, a Death Star.
Best. Answer. Ever.
Thank you so much!!

Yay Jeigh! She cracks me up regularly. (I'm on the shy team too. Maybe we should form a group or something.)
ooh can I come to your desert island library?
I love this interview :) Jeigh, you are so funny!
A Death Star is a good choice, and I would have never guessed from this interview that Jeigh is shy. ; )
Jeigh is awesome! And you are awesome, Chantele, for hosting her. Thanks for having her.
I've launched a giveaway today! :)
Angry music for dystopian totally makes sense. :) Great interview, thanks for posting it! Nice getting to know a bit about you, Jeigh! :D
Perfect advice there, thank you :-)
I can tell she is shy by her short answers, but you know what? I loved this interview. Short and sweet and to the point. I love her name and she can organize my house any time!
