Random Thoughts From This Week

1. Pumpkin walks are fun! We went to two this year. I have to say the one we went to last night was awesome. Carved pumpkins everywhere! The whole family had fun. Even if we froze our butts off!

2. I've been editing INBETWEEN all week. I'm getting ready to send my book to more betas. Then it's off to my agent! Hopefully he likes it...

3. Still not sure if I'm doing NaNo. I have a book I want to write, but it requires research. I've never researched for a book before. Actually, that's a lie. I did a tiny bit of research on the Salem witch trials for INBETWEEN, but not much. Anyway, I have a huge, awesome idea for my newest book. It's shiny and new and gives me all sorts of warm fuzzies when I think about it. It's different, and that's good. It could be pretty cool. I just have to finish researching and write it. :)

4. It's freaking freezing!! I'm ready for winter, but not. If that makes sense. :P

5. My kids finally know what they're going to be for Halloween. Kid 1: Anakin Skywalker. Kid 2: A pirate. She's so excited. Kid 3: Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. She even has ruby slippers!

Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of Halloween. The older I get, the more I just want to get it over with. Anyone with me? lol I think it's fun for the kids though. And I like ... uh ... borrowing my kids treats after they go to bed... ;)

What candy are you going to"borrow" out of your kids bags? I know I'll be looking for Almond Joys and Kit Kats! :D

Have an awesome spooky weekend everyone!

So with you on the halloween thing and I only have one kid left doing it.

And I'll never be ready for winter. It makes me cringe thinking about the cold and the snow.

I love this time of hear. But I've never been to a Pumpkin walk. I'll have to try that. Your kids sound adorable! Every year I have high hopes...but sadly, I didn't pull great things together.

I'm going to admit it. I STEAL Reeses Peanut Butter Cups from my kids stash. Not ashamed at all.

Ruth: I totally steal my kids treats too. ;)

Solid costume choices! Ugh, I wish I had as much certainty regarding Halloween as I did when I was a kid. A friend who is a Halloween baby is having an Alice in Wonderland themed party tomorrow, and you can bet I still can't even figure out which character, much less how to costume it. :p

I think you should do NaNoWriMo even if you're not ready yet. I (here's a secret goal) want to try outlining for the first time with my new idea, and I'm not even close to being done, but hey. It's all about the experience, yes? Just leave XXX where research needs to go. ;)

And if you end up doing it and regretting it, let me know I offered poor advice and I will gladly bring you your caffeinated beverage of choice on demand. :)

I like Halloween, when it's not freezing butt cold! :) I'm an almond joy gal myself.

Good luck with your MS! I hope your agent likes it.
And the candy I want to steal is the flavored tootsie rolls. The vanilla and cherry ones are awesome!

We stopped getting trick or treaters years ago, so Halloween is no big deal. We didn't even get a pumpkin this year.

Good luck getting your new ms ready! And sounds like some fun costume choices. My kiddos are going to be a wizard and a dragon. I've never been to a pumpkin walk, but it sounds like fun!!

I'm not very into Halloween this year. I don't even have costumes ready--I'm freaking out a little. I'm so with you on the Almond Joy--in fact I think I'll have one right now :)

My son just had to come off dairy so he's not going to be able to eat a lot of his candy. Anything with chocolate or nougat is right out. The others we'll have to look at. Guess who's going to get everything he can't eat? Muaa haa ha.

It's not borrowing, it's parent tax for all our hard work! And seriouly I hate the cold weather, yuck!

Oooh, a pumpkin walk sounds fun! And I'm still wavering about doing NaNo, too. Good luck with your research!

Your kids have great costumes! I love Halloween too. My son is going to be a bat. He's not even two yet, so I'll be "borrowing" most of the candy out of his bag. We'll go to a few neighbors' houses to see how he does. He can still be pretty shy, though.

I give my mom half my candy anyway, so she doesn't have to steal. :)

I'm getting the rest of my Halloween costume later today. I'm planning to do a post on how to turn a word into a costume.

I wanted to take my kids to the pumpkin walk but we just haven't had time! I'm so bummed. It's my favorite.
I will probably steal the Reeses from my kids!

It is really cold, and I'm not sure I'm ready for winter either. I loved when my niece dressed up as Dorothy-SO CUTE. I like your choice in candy. And I just had myself a Kit Kat. Yummy! Have a Happy Halloween!

I used to go all out with the Halloween decorations. Now the only thing I've done is change my cursor on my comp. But my kids are all grown.

I'm not even going to buy extra chocolate this year 'just in case' :-(

I say even if you don't think NaNo is write for you this year, to make November a month when you do something writerly you haven't ever done before. I have two members of my critique group who are going to send out x number of queries before the end of the month while I'm writing frantically. That way, when everyone is celebrating their accomplishments, you can rejoice as well.

We had our adult halloween party last night - complete with dancing and eighties music, lol.

I make my kids turn in their halloween candy for a toy. They each pick 15 pieces, and I get the rest.

They've been picking out their toys for the past two weeks, and with any luck, my kids won't be on a sugar high for a week :D

Chantele Sedgwick said...

Jolene, that is a GREAT idea!! I may have to do that... :)

Mmm. Snickers and Junior Mints.

I'm not the biggest fan of Halloween, either! Well... except for the borrowing of snickers and junior mints...
