We are going camping this next week. Yep. Camping. Not one of my favorite pastimes. I honestly didn't have a problem with it, until I had children. Actually, no, scratch that. I have always had a problem with it. Even when I was in young women's. The daytime activities are usually fine and pretty fun. Swimming in the lake,(if there is a lake) relaxing, reading, whatever. It is good lazy fun. Then, night time comes. The sounds of scurrying animals running past the tent, while I lay there trying to keep my face from freezing off, but not wanting to have the sleeping bag over my face, breathing in hot air. It is a struggle, believe me. If there is a river nearby, I can hear every single drop and splash as it races past me, mocking me as I try to close my eyes.
Then, there are the crickets. My own worst enemy. Honestly. If there is one outside in the middle of the night,(excluding camping for a moment) I will track that sucker down and finish it off. They drive me crazy! Anyway, back to camping, since I kind of get off subject at times. Sleeping is non-existent for me when I am in a tent. I am a very light sleeper, and hear every little sound. I have to have it totally dark, and no sounds around me, besides a fan or heater or something that I am used to. When I sleep in a tent, or lay there, if you want to get technical, there is only like half an inch of fabric between me and outside. Now, don't get me wrong, I love nature, but I hate it when nature tries to sing me to sleep. Give me a trailer or a cabin, and I'm fine. Getting kids to sleep is even worse than getting myself to sleep. I have trained my little ones to fall asleep in their own beds, not really taking them anywhere else, and when we try to put them down in the tent, they fight and scream, and take forever to fall asleep. It's totally my fault, I know that, but it still sucks! What it comes down to is this. I have camping issues. Enough said.:)
