Happy New Year!

It's a new year. Can you believe it? When I was younger, 2013 seemed like it was FOREVER away. And now it's here. So awesome.

As I've thought about all that happened in 2012, I've been trying to come up with new goals. New dreams. I've had an interesting writing journey so far to say the least. So, bring it on 2013!

I'm making my goals a little more realistic this year. I'll show you what I mean. :)

1. Finish my revisions and edits on Not Your Average Happy Ending. Turn into Editor so it can be published this year.

2. Finish my WIP. It's a contemporary YA and it's scary writing so far out of my magical fantasy comfort zone. But I love this book. And I think it's a good thing it scares me so much.

3. Query my WIP. I'm absolutely terrified of querying agents, but I'm going to be brave and do it. You'd think I'd be a little more brave since I've been there before, but no. That's why I'm so scared. Been there. Done that. Hated it.

4. Enjoy writing. Last year I was so caught up in what I was doing wrong and so critical of myself, I lost the joy of writing for a while. I only finished one book last year and gave up on a bunch of others for that very reason. I'm getting back into loving it again. I'm done stressing over if it's good enough to get an agent or not. I want to just love the words, the stories and characters I write about. That's enough for me.

5. Finish one more book and query it.

6. I'm going to blog more. I've missed it. I may have to do it only once or twice a week, but as long as I'm blogging a little, I'll be happy. :)

So, there you have it. My writing goals. I would LOVE to hear yours!

Those are awesome goals! I know how it is branching out of the speculative and into something more realistic--but when those characters or idea dangle in front of you, it's hard to deny it. Good luck!

I feel you, trying to get the love of writing back. I've been struggling with that myself, and am very slowly starting to find it again. I hope so, anyway!

Good luck! I'm not sure I'm going to set any goals this year. (Which is what I'm blogging about this week on my own blog. Those posts aren't up yet, though.)

I'm just keeping it really simple: finish writing my WIP (I could be done in a couple weeks), rewrite and have it edited, compile a list of small publishers, and either start a new book or do a complete rewrite of my first book - that one I'm wavering between rewriting the entire story or just shelving for good.

Remembering to enjoy it. That's a wonderful goal.

Hi Chantele! Happy New Year!

Those are some amazing goals you have set yourself and I'm betting you reach them all!

My 2013 goal is to write as often as I can. Finding the time with a full-time job, part-time degree course and coursework is challenging, but writing is my passion and so my passion must drive me towards my goals; as will yours.

Good Luck!

Juls

Happy 2013! I especially love number four. Half the fun of writing isn't the finished manuscript, but the journey it took to get there. :)

Good goals Chan! I have no doubt you can do it all!

Most of my goals this year have to do with editing or revising or rewriting. These are things I'm still learning how to do. I posted about them on my blog.

I love the title you've picked for your second book. ^^ Good luck with your goals.

Definitely a great set of goals - especially enjoying writing. It's so easy to get down on the whole thing when you're pushing yourself too hard. The best work always comes when you're relaxed and loving what you're doing!

Yep, querying sucks. But it is also very exciting. It can be roller coaster exciting! I wish you the very best luck in 2013.

Great goals! I'm trying to keep mine simple this year - pray, find the joy in each moment, and of course get in some quality writing and reading time. :)

Great goals dear! Querying is so scary, isn't it? Just keep plugging away. It'll happen!
